  • Pubs across the UK will be allowed to stay open two hours later until 1am on May 8 to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
  • The extended hours aim to provide an opportunity to commemorate the sacrifices made during World War II and celebrate the freedom won.
  • This decision is also expected to provide a boost to the hospitality sector.
  • VE Day commemorations will begin on May 5 with various events, including a military procession and an RAF flypast.
